Welcome! I'm Gretchen, founder of Curious Magpie Career Coaching and a certified career and salary negotiation coach.

I offer more than a decade of experience helping women successfully use the power of curiosity to embrace their unique strengths and needs in order to navigate career transitions with confidence and purpose. I became a career coach because I see the tangible impact that strong career development skills can have on a woman’s life and the future of her family and community. I became a salary negotiation coach because it makes me angry when women don’t earn the money that the deserve for the value they bring to the table. I specialize in working with mid-career women and those new to management because I have found that both of these groups are often the least likely to get the targeted support they need to achieve their goals.

What sets me apart is my focus on evidence-based and strengths-focused strategies that helps clients achieve their goals one step at a time. I often use a life design framework to help clients move beyond anxieties and disfunctional beliefs that are holding them back from taking the next step. You’ll leave our coaching sessions with concrete career resources and action steps after every session. You’ll feel heard, supported, and appreciated in our conversations together. We’ll probably share quite a few laughs along the way, since humor is a wonderful tool of imagination and perspective!
